Adopted New Year
So the first day of Chinese New Year went by without barely a whisper. But today the Tamangs of Nepal celebrated their own new year. Photographing these bunch of merry-makers made me adopt their festival as mine.

It really helps that most Nepalis are not camera shy. They seem even press trained. When the camera approaches they continue to dance, sing and cheer, without scant regard to the clicking. Of course there are those who cover their faces and make a run for it at the slightest sign of a lens, but I'll bet my home country has much more of those people.
Happy Chinese New Year people. Eat all the abalone and bak kwa on my behalf. Somehow the second New Year away from home doesn't make it any easier.
